Our Hybrid Microschool

Updated: 2 days ago

Pathways Field Notes is a monthly blog where we share what learning looks like in our hybrid learning microschool. If you’re new to this model, the blog will give you a clear picture of how education at Pathways combines flexibility, structure, and real-world learning.

Each month, we’ll highlight classroom experiences, student projects, and community involvement. You’ll see how different subjects connect and how learning goes beyond the classroom through service, exploration, and hands-on activities. Blog posts will also include school updates, upcoming events, and stories that reflect Pathways’ values.

Students are actively involved in the blog’s content. They can write reflections, summarize projects, interview community members, share artwork, or contribute photographs. This gives them the chance to practice their communication skills, think about what they’ve learned, and share their work with a wider audience—which is an important part of active learning.

Community engagement is super important to the Pathways experience. As a microschool, we value local connections and meaningful partnerships. Students regularly interact with local organizations, historical sites, and service opportunities, applying what they learn in real-world settings. The blog will showcase these experiences and how they’ve impacted student growth.

The Pathways blog is more than just an update—it’s a window into a learning model that values curiosity, connection, and purpose. It invites readers to explore how a hybrid microschool nurtures engaged learners and a strong community.
